CALL FOR PERFORMERS, ARTISTS, AND ENTERTAINERS
Deadline for application submission is Saturday, August 30, 2014.
We are super excited about this year’s programming as it is our 26th Anniversary Celebration! (founded 1989)
In addition to the New Year’s theme we would like artists to incorporate our 26th anniversary theme into your act if possible.
Acts must be family-friendly. For the most part acts are geared toward youth in the afternoon/early evening and then for adults and teens in the evening.
We welcome any appropriate performance type. Listed below are a few suggestions although performance types are not limited to this list.
In addition we are also looking for multiple street buskers. If interested, please send us an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Can you recall a fun experience…? Do you have a story to share?
If so, we’d love to read about it and post it to this website.

Nancy – Memories of First Night – where to start – there was the year that it was sooooo cold and many of the venues were not inside (this was in the really early years) including the poor German Dancers who were on an outdoor stage dancing in close to (if not below) zero degree weather in their lederhosen, made me cold just looking at them!!! Then moving to indoor sites – much better when it’s a winter event!!! Some large venues, some small. Some close, some a little of the beaten track. Acts that were there for one year, acts that have been there for almost all of the years. Throughout it, the one constant, unsung group who are there each and every year are the volunteers who help to keep things running smoothly, who give up their holiday to make this night so special, just for the fun of doing it!! Thanks to all those through the years who have helped make this the event that it is today!!!
Nancy R. – I have been going to First Night Hartford for most of the 25 years. Two years I went to First Night in Atlanta. I am now bringing my granddaughter. My kids loved it and now my granddaughter looks forward to it. It doesn’t matter how cold or what the weather is, I am a faithful first nighter. It is worth weathering the storm. Lots to see all in one night and the price is RIGHT! It feels like the gift of the season!
Imani – First Night was an incredible amount of fun for me and my family. My aunt first took my children to First Night in 1991. She was the heart of the family. She passed in 1993. They came home with wacky hats, full of McDonald’s cheeseburgers and memories to last a lifetime. Thanks Hartford!
